Which color LED should I use?

For the most vivid color and best results the LED color should be the same as the lens color. If a white LED is used behind a red lens some of the visable light is filtered out and the light will have a pink tint to it. If a white LED is used behind an amber lens the output will be higher and the color will be bright yellow.

Turn signal issues with LED bulbs

LED turn signal lamps will not flash with thermal flasher units due to their extremely low current draw. Some cars indicate this by increasing the flash rate of the turn signals, some do not flash at all. This can be remedied with load resistors wired across the turn signal bulbs to simulate a filament bulb load. One way to test this is to pull out one of your blinker bulbs. If you get a bulb out warning or rapid flashing, you will need load resistors.

Load Resistors:
A 6 Ohm, 50 Watt resistor can be connected across the turn signal wire to simulate the load of 1 regular filament bulb (2 Amp load), a 3 Ohm 50 Watt resistor can be connected across the turn signal wire to simulate the load of 2 regular filament bulbs (4 Amp load). This will solve LED related turn signal problems such as hyper flashing, no flashing or burnt out bulb indications.

Connection Instructions:
Using the 3M 804 splice taps, connect one wire to ground and the other wire to the turn signal wire. You do not have to cut your car's wires. Squeeze splice taps with pliers. One Load Resistor required for each turn signal bulb. No instructions are include with these kits.

ELECTRONIC LED FLASHERS
This problem may also be remedied with an electronic flasher, these units are not available for all makes of vehicles. Many vehicles have two blinker units, one for hazard and one for turn, so locate both by sound output. It is not always necessary to replace the hazard flasher.

Dash indicators reporting burnt out bulbs

LED bulbs may cause some newer vehicles to indicate a bulb is burnt out (because of their low power consumption). This can be remedied with our 25w load resistors to simulate a filament bulb load. One way to test this is to pull out one of your bulbs, if you get a bulb out warning you will need load resistors.

Bulb Out Warning Fix:
These 25 Ohm, 25 Watt resistors can be connected across the turn signal bulbs to simulate the load of a miniature filament bulb. This will solve LED related burnt out bulb warnings in your dash board display. One resistor is required for each bulb. Optional gel filled moisture resistant splice taps can be purchased for simple installation.

What is the difference between Warm White, Neutral White, and Cool White?

Cool White
These LEDs have a slight tint of blue to them. They are rated at 7,000-8,000 Kelvin. These bulbs generally look best with dark colored interiors.
Pure White (Neutral White)
These LEDs are a pure white, with little to no color tint. With a color temperature around 5500-6500K We like these the best for all applications because they offer a very clean, OEM look. You'll find that most of our bulbs are neutral white!

Warm White
These LEDs are closer to the color of a standard incandescent bulb. They are rated at 3,000-4.500 Kelvin. You are not likely to find any of these in our store.

Which LEDs bulbs are brightest?

Output greatly depends on the application and the intent of the installation. Our High Power bulbs featuring Cree emitters are the brightest we currently offer. In most cases the greater number of emitters the bulb has the brighter the output.

Are the bulbs standard size?

All our bulbs are standard size and will fit the application it is replacing.

Do your bulbs have dual intensity?

All our 1157, 3157, and 7443 bulbs have high and low output. They will get brighter when the brake or turn signal is applied.

Will LEDs work with the dimmer?

Yes, however the dimming may not be as smooth as factory halogen bulb. Because LED's are current sensitive and like fixed voltage, dimming might appear to "step down" step down instead of "roll down". This is because most automotive dimmers reduce voltage instead of

Can I replace my headlights with LEDs?

Most LED bulbs are intended for use as a Day Time Running light or for aesthetic purposes only. They are a great match for HID headlights but not intended to be used as a primary source of light. Only our CosmoBlast LED headlight systems are suitable for driving or headlights.
